Prescription for Living Beyond Cancer

Designed for breast and cervical cancer survivors, this seven week program will offer nutrition and lifestyle modifications, stress management and more to help decrease the chance of reoccurrence and address issues of life after cancer.

Maybe a Baby…Preparing for Pregnancy
Wednesday, Sept. 23, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
This workshop is designed for couples planning a pregnancy. Topics discussed include getting your body ready for pregnancy, becoming pregnant, the transition from couplehood to parenthood, financial planning and the baby’s normal growth and development.

National Women’s Fitness Day
Wednesday, Sept. 30, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Join us for an evening of women’s fitness at the Gettysburg Recreation Park and Biser Fitness Trail. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for walking. Following the walk, Paula Chaplin, WellSpan Rehabilitation will lead belly-dancing movement. Door prizes will be awarded. Co-sponsored by Gettysburg Hospital Women’s Services and the Healthy Adams County Physical Fitness Task Force.

Let’s Talk – A Day-long Training with Wanda Filer, M.D.
Thursday, Oct. 8, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Designed for educators, parents and adults who work with youth, this day-long program will focus on teaching our adolescents about healthy relationships. Guest speaker Wanda Filer, M.D. will share stories about her extensive work in women’s and youth’s health issues, both in the U.S. and worldwide. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Co-sponsored by the Adams Coalition to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, an affiliate of Healthy Adams County.

Girls Go Pink
Thursday, Oct. 22, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
All girls seventh grade and older and a significant female adult are invited to this program. Have your blood pressure checked and see what smoking does to your lungs! Tour the mammography department and cancer center and have a heel screening (additional cost for heel screening, for women 35 years and older). Enjoy educational exhibits and informational sessions. Sample healthy tasty snacks and practice stress management, learn normal puberty changes and new immunization information…plus lots more. Co-sponsored by Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania and Gettysburg Hospital Women’s Services.
